Yesterday I wore my peace symbol earrings
and a black skirt.
Most of the day was overcast
which seemed appropriate.
During the afternoon there was a short time of bright sunlight
just enough to make me hopeful
that sometime soon we'll all be able to simply hold hands
and love each other.
Then the sun went away
and I was left with my black skirt and peace earrings,
alone and sad.
